Jennifer Aniston and John MayerAfter saying he’s a guy “living his life” when photos of him and Jennifer Aniston surfaced, John Mayer continued to do just that. The hot new couple relaxed at the Manadrin Oriental Hotel in Miami Saturday, eating, chatting – and smooching – poolside.

Aniston, who is wrapping up the Miami portion of her new film Marley & Me with Owen Wilson, sat in side-by-side lounge chairs with Mayer, eating salads and talking softly with one another. At one point the singer, 30, whispered into Aniston’s ear, sparking a smile from the actress, 39.

Their quality time didn’t end there. Mayer and Aniston also attended the Miami wrap party Saturday night at NIkki Coconut Grove. Mayer shielded Aniston from photographers as she climbed out of the car. The couple kissed throughout the evening, enjoying ’80s music provided by the party’s DJ before calling it a night.

Jennie GarthKelly Taylor is returning to that exclusive zip code, 90210.

As was rumored, Jennie Garth will make special guest appearances on the CW’s new spinoff of Beverly Hills, 90210, playing a guidance counselor at her alma mater, West Beverly High, the network announced Saturday.

Garth is the first original cast member to sign on to the spinoff — though many former stars (including Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering) are lobbying for parts. Since the announcement was made last month, the cast has been rapidly filling up: Lori Loughlin has signed on to play Debbie Mills, wife of the high school principal who returns to take care of his alcoholic mother.

The high school principal has not yet been cast.

Jenna Welch Bush wed Henry Chase HagerIt’s official: Jenna Welch Bush wed Henry Chase Hager Saturday – making her the first daughter of a sitting United States president to marry in 16 years.

The pair exchanged vows just before sundown in a lakeside ceremony threatened by a tornado watch at President Bush’s secluded 1,600-acre Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas.

Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell, of the Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston, presided over the “I do’s” before a 4-foot limestone cross and altar that were the president’s idea for the occasion and will stand as a permanent landmark on the Bushes’ property.

‘A Joyous Occasion’
“This is a joyous occasion for our family, as we celebrate the happy life ahead of (Jenna) and her husband, Henry,” the president said in his weekly radio broadcast Saturday morning. “It’s also a special time for Laura, who this Mother’s Day weekend will watch a young woman we raised together walk down the aisle.”

A source at the ranch said that the president alone, in traditional style, was escorting the bride to the altar. A White House spokeswoman said she did not know if Jenna planned to take the name Hager as her own.

Dinner and dancing for the 200 guests – including family and only the closest of friends, including longtime presidential advisers Karl Rove and Karen Hughes – were being held under tents.

The Wedding Dress
Jenna, 26, in an embroidered organza Oscar de la Renta gown, was attended by twin sister Barbara, the maid of honor, who wore a dress of moonstone blue shimmer with a silver sash. De la Renta, a close friend of the family, also designed First Lady Laura Bush’s deep turquoise “mother-of-the-bride” gown.

White House spokeswoman Sally McDonough said the colors – from the dresses to the décor – were selected to mirror the “very natural” colors of the central Texas landscape: the blues of the lake where Bush fishes for bass, the greens of Mrs. Bush’s prized buffalo grass (native grass that she restored to the property) and the lavendar, yellow and blue of the wildflowers.

Henry’s brother, John, stood as Best Man. In keeping with Jenna’s desire for an “organic and natural” feel to the wedding, the men dressed in suits – not black tie. And dancing was accompanied not by a fussy orchestra, but by Nashville-based wedding singer Tyrone Smith, otherwise known as Super T and a favorite at Southern frat parties.

Henry, whose father is a prominent Virginia Republican, celebrated his 30th birthday on Friday amid wedding festivities that included a rehearsal dinner and “Texas-size” afterparty. He met Jenna in 2004, when both of them were working on her father’s reelection campaign.

Finishing up his final year at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, he is expected to get his degree later this month and then begin work for an energy company based in Baltimore, Md., where he and Jenna recently bought a townhouse.

The last time a sitting president’s child was married was the 1992 Camp David wedding of Dorothy Koch, daughter of President George H.W. Bush, Jenna’s grandfather.

Nick Cannon and Mariah CareyWhen Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey made their first public appearance as newlyweds on Thursday, the pair simply dazzled – almost as much as their wedding jewelry.

Carey, who attended TIME magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World” gala with her new husband, showed off her impressive pink diamond sparkler from of Jacob & Co. jewelers. The ring, valued at a whopping $2.5 million, is 17 carats. The center stone alone is 10-carats – a little smaller than a dime.

“I wanted to do something extremely special, something that Mariah would really appreciate,” Cannon said. “We got the pinkest stone we could find, surrounded by other diamonds.”

Carey definitely approved. “It’s so clear, you can see my finger through it,” she said.

Jenna Bush’s wedding photos

The White House has released official photos of Jenna Bush’s wedding ceremony and reception. She looks beautiful and her special day seems like a perfect mix of elegant touches with a down home celebration. Jenna, 26, and her new husband, Henry Hager, 30, are thought to be heading off to a European honeymoon. The new couple will return home to a two bedroom townhouse in Baltimore, Maryland. Jenna has a job as a schoolteacher in Washington, DC, and Henry will work for an energy company in Maryland. Best wishes to the new couple.

We posted full details of their wedding ceremony and reception earlier today.

All photos thanks to WhiteHouse.gov. Jenna and Henry are shown with their parents including Mr. and Mrs. John Hager, and with the reverend who officiated their ceremony, Kirbyjon Caldwell of Houston’s Windsor Village United Methodist Church.

Update: The photos have been released of Jenna’s special day and it looks incredible.

Jenna Bush, 26, married her boyfriend of nearly four years, former White House aid and MBA graduate student Henry Hager, 30, on Saturday. The event was held at Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas, and was attended by around 200 guests. Jenna certainly could have chosen to have an elegant affair at the White House, but that’s not her style and she didn’t want to draw too much attention to herself.

There was a very good editorial by Diane Roberts on NPR today about how Jenna missed a chance at a wedding that would have been as close to a royal occasion as is possible in America. Roberts cited some Presidents’ daughters who chose to have White House weddings that were attended by the press and followed closely by millions of Americans. If Jenna would have had that type of wedding it might have provided her lame duck President father a brief blip in his terrible ratings, but it also would have made her a target.

As it is, we only have one old pre-released photo of Henry and Jenna and the details about their wedding. They chose to go the Beyoncé and Jay-Z route and haven’t even released a wedding portrait yet. (Update: Here’s a link to the photos of Jenna’s wedding)

Here are some details from People and an NPR story.

  • A rehearsal dinner was hosted by Hager’s parents for around 100 people in Salado, Texas on Friday, and all the wedding guests were invited.

  • The wedding and reception were outdoors.

  • Jenna wore “an embroidered organza Oscar de la Renta gown” that’s described as simple and elegant. She did not wear a veil.

  • Her twin sister Barbara was the maid of honor and wore a de la Renta dress that was cut low in the back and was “moonstone blue shimmer with a silver sash.”

  • There were 14 other attendants in her “house” party, which sounds less formal than a standard wedding party.

  • The men wore suits, not tuxes, with Henry in a dark blue suit and powder blue tie. His brother was his best man.

  • He had 14 ushers in his party also. They are said to have walked the women to their seats but not to have been involved in the ceremony.

  • The bride and groom stood at a special beige limestone cross made for them of the same stone used on the ranch home on the estate.

  • The wedding was officiated by Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell of Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston.

  • Wedding singer Tyrone Smith or “Super T” and his 10-piece band provided the music for the reception. He is described by People as “a favorite at Southern frat parties.”

  • The first dance was “Lovin’ in My Baby’s Eyes” by Taj Mahal, and the father-daughter dance was “You Are So Beautiful.”

  • Jenna and Henry are thought to be honeymooning in Europe. They will live in a two bedroom, two bath house on Baltimore’s south side. Jenna will return to her job teaching at a public school in Washington, DC and Henry has a position with energy company Constellation Energy. He will graduate with his MBA from the University of Virginia next month.

[Many bulleted details nearly word for word from NPR report.]

Other weddings of sitting presidents’ daughters
NPR reminds us that the most extravagant White House wedding in recent history was President Nixon’s daughter Tricia’s live wedding broadcast from the Rose Garden. Tricia Nixon married liberal Harvard law student Edward Finch Cox on June 12, 1971, when the Vietnam War was still in full force. Cox was featured on the cover of Life Magazine twice after her wedding, which Life called “akin to American royalty.”

In contrast, Dorothy Bush, Jenna’s aunt, got married in a super secret ceremony in 1992 at Camp David when Jenna’s grandfather was President.

An aid to President HW Bush explains in part why Jenna chose a more low-key event: “If they’d have gone on TV, the wedding would have been shown all over the world and Jenna Bush would have been an international celebrity — and she would have been a target. They’re preparing the transition to private life and they’re not particularly interested in seeing Jenna Bush become a huge celebrity.”

You understand why they didn’t have a wedding at the White House and it seems like a wise decision for them. The whole world would have made fun of Jenna instead of her dad for once.

Best wishes to Jenna and Henry for a normal family life. They’re a very cute couple and they seem to be off to a good start, all things considered.

Here’s Tricia Nixon and President Nixon at her 1971 wedding in the Rose Garden, the only wedding held there in history.

See People Magazine’s latest edition for the tattoo photos
When you hear that Nick and Mariah got each other’s names tattooed on their body as a symbol of their undying six weeks of love, you assume that they’re small to medium tattoos of the type that are regrettable but easily lasered off or covered over after an inevitable break up. Johnny Depp had his “Winona Forever shoulder tattoo altered to read “Wino Forever” and Angelina Jolie had her “Billy Bob” tattoo removed and replaced with the coordinates of her children’s birthplaces.

The disparity between Nick Cannon’s tattoo for Mariah Carey and Mariah’s “Mrs. Cannon” tattoo is huge, though. Hers is easily covered up and is hard to see. She has a small butterfly at the base of her spine with “Mrs. Cannon” in script as the center line of the butterfly. It’s nearly impossible to see and you can’t tell that the center of the butterfly is actual writing unless you’re right up close.

Nick Cannon has “Mariah” tattooed across his entire upper back in giant half-cursive writing with a mirror image of the tattoo beneath it like a reflection. That is going to be super painful to remove. What’s more is that these two got the tattoos right after they met each other, because Mariah told People it had been a “few weeks” since they had the tattoos done and they’ve only been together for six weeks. Scary Spice and Eddie Murphy also got tattoos for each other almost immediately, and look how that worked out for them:

On how they connected immediately while collaborating on “Bye Bye” video

Nick: From the first time we sat down to discuss the video… we connected. We had so much in common spiritually, and we laugh at the same things. I didn’t have to put on my Mac Daddy suave mode. I was able to be myself with her. We are both eternally 12 years old.

Mariah [laughing] We were having a [sic] such a good time on the shoot.

Nick: I brought her little pieces of candy. I’d write little third-grade notes instead of being over-the-top.

Mariah: He wrote a note, “Will you be my girlfriend?” with boxes for yes or no. In the video, we’re boyfriend and girlfriend. It seemed very natural.

[From People Magazine, print edition, May 19, 2008]

On if their friends were surprised by the marriage, and about their tattoos

Mariah: Some were, but some weren’t. One thing [few people] knew was we got tattoos a few weeks earlier. So anyone who saw my [Mrs. Cannon] tattoo wasn’t surprised.

Nick: To me rings are special and exciting, but tattoos mean more than anything. They’re forever and ever. They professed our love.

Mariah: And they hurt!

Nick: A lot.

[From People Magazine, print edition, May 19, 2008]

How Nick Proposed with a Ring Pop, filmed it, then did another take for the cameras

On April 25 Cannon took Carey to the roof of her NYC apartment to see the Empire State Building, lit pink and lavender to honor her album E=MC2. As he often did, he gave her a Ring Pop - candy shaped like a big jewel. But inside the wrapper was a 17-carat pink-diamond ring… Her reaction? “He had ribbons around it, so I said ‘I think mine’s broke,” says Care. When he drpoped to one knee, “she ran away and got all shy,” he says. Finally, she said yes - twice. Cannon, who filmed it all, proposed again to get a perfect take, this time on a helicopter. “That,” says Carey, “was beautiful.”

[From People Magazine, print edition, May 19, 2008]

So Nick says they both act 12, that he sent her candy with little notes on it, and that he even proposed with candy. And he taped the proposal twice so I assume it will be on television at some point after someone pays a hefty sum for it. They marked their names on each other like a junior high student writes on a notebook cover, and then topped it off by having an impulsive wedding. Mariah wasn’t stupid though and she seems to have hedged her bets. Reports say she did get a prenuptial agreement. Now that I know her tattoo for Nick is tiny and hard to decipher she seems to have thought this through much more than I previously gave her credit for.

Here’s a clip from Oprah with some of the photos that are now in People. It’s pretty funny.

Thanks to Huffington Post for the video. You can see more wedding photos in the latest edition of People Magazine.

Halle Berry looked gorgeous and sporty at the Revlon Run/Walk for Women yesterday. The event was held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, with proceeds to benefit breast and ovarian cancer causes. Berry has been a spokesperson for Revlon since 1996.

Berry had baby Nahla Ariela Aubry seven weeks ago and the newborn has yet to be photographed by the paparazzi or make a high-paid appearance in a magazine. Good for Halle for not taking part in the ever-escalating bid for baby pictures by the celebrity glossies. She could make millions for sitting for photos for one day and talking about how great her life is post-baby, but she’s deliberately keeping little Nahla out of the spotlight. Halle hasn’t openly courted the press in some time, so it’s not like she’s doing a 180 like Tom and Katie did after Suri arrived. I’d love to see what Nahla looks like, though.

Thanks to PRPhotos for these pictures.

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer’s new romance hasn’t been thwarted by his rumored dalliance with a blond at a bar. The two good looking famous people were photographed poolside at the Mandarian Oriental in Miami yesterday. Aniston put her arm around Mayer in the pool and they were seen cuddling on the lounge chairs afterwards. Just Jared notes that they had a workout session together just prior to this and were cooling down.

Mayer performed last night at the wrap party for Aniston’s film Marley and Me, in which she stars with Owen Wilson. According to In Touch, the party was rescheduled to accommodate Mayer’s performance:

After filming for three months in Miami, Jennifer Aniston has big plans for the wrap party of Marley & Me, including a special performance by her new man, John Mayer! In Touch can reveal that the celebration will take place at Nikki Beach in Coconut Grove on May 10, where the sexy rocker will perform at least three songs. According to an insider, the party was originally supposed to take place on May 9. “Everything was changed at the last minute so John could do this for her. He’s crazy about Jen.” The pair have fast-tracked their romance and the insider says, “It’s hot and heavy but in that very cool way.” The insider on the set adds, “John isn’t going to hide his adoration and he’s telling everyone what a cool chick Jen is.” Looks like this relationship is anything but a wrap!

[From In Touch]

Mayer handled the big tabloid hoorah over their first photographs together extremely well, saying “This is me living my life and a guy with a really powerful lens and I don’t fault him. There are much worse problems in the world. Everything’s cool!” These two are really growing on me and I’m actually rooting for them.

Mayer has a new video on Funny or Die in which he makes fun of his douchebag persona. He’s wearing a tracksuit in the clip and acting full of himself. At one point he’s talking to some music producers about song concepts and says “How about something everybody can relate to, like when you’re f’ing one supermodel and the other ones jealous?”

The guy is not my favorite person and I don’t get him, but he’s not as bad I thought he was. Maybe Aniston is mellowing him out. Or maybe they have, like habits together, that help them mellow out. Nudge nudge.

Thanks to Splash News for these photos.

I haven’t watched “American Idol” in weeks, but apparently there is some kind of drama going on with obvious favorite David Archuleta’s dad and the show’s producers. Jeff Archuleta, the overbearing Dadager of this season’s “chosen one,” has been banned from the American Idol set. The 17-year-old David is talented but immensely boring and over-rehearsed, thanks to his bossy dad- and now, that is going to cost the show producers and FOX money in the form of royalties.

TMZ has learned David Archuleta’s dad, Jeff, has been officially banned from “American Idol.”

Here’s how it went down. “Idol” sources tell TMZ Jeff has been a complete pain in the ass, interfering with the entire production. He has badgered producers, the band, vocal coaches and even other contestants. The final straw came this week, when Jeff wanted to change the lyrics to David’s first song, “Stand By Me.” Jeff insisted on adding a verse from Sean Kingston’s hit, “Beautiful Girls.” Producers sent him an e-mail telling him the lyrics could not be changed. They were beyond pissed when David sang the song with Kingston’s lyrics during the live show.

We’re told by changing the lyrics, it created problems with the song’s publisher and cost “A.I.” a lot of money.

Jeff was ordered to sit with “A.I.” lawyers on Wednesday, who told him he was “banned from being in the rooms where David was learning or rehearsing his songs.” It’s “Idol’s” position, since David is 17, he does not need a guardian — just a teacher. Jeff will be allowed to sit in the audience during the live show but he’s 86′d from anything backstage.

Sources say the other contestants were fed up with Jeff and didn’t want him near them. Now they have their wish.

All in all, sources say Jeff is the stage dad from hell. BTW, he was banned on the set when David did “Star Search” a few years back.

[From TMZ]

Okay, this is my theory on this story: it’s a big ploy to boost ratings because people aren’t watching this piece of crap show anymore. It’s been obvious since Hollywood week who the judges want to win (David Archuleta), but the problem is, the kid’s not charismatic enough to watch week after week, and the show’s themes and judges are even more boring. So the producers have decided to add a little behind-the-scenes drama to get people talking about it again.

Nice try, FOX- I’m still not watching.
